With middle age approaching, and after several unsuccessful dieting attempts, I didn't think I would ever lose all the extra weight I had been carrying around. I went to Dr. Hart's Wellness Workshop last year truly in despair. Dr. Hart and Mary Kay were genuinely interested in getting to the bottom of my problem.

Using their simple-to-follow eating plan, I have lost 50 pounds in the past year, lowered my cholesterol, and I feel great. I haven't been "on a diet", but have learned to change the way I organize my meals and think about foods. I even went on vacation, ate and drank what I wanted, and still came home a pound lighter! Use this book to lose weight, but teach its principles to your family too, so they can avoid developing insulin-resistance and the diseases related to it.

If you're looking for a good book on eating an anti-inflammation diet, this would be a good pick. I knew basically nothing about anti-inflammation food until I read it. You can roughly split the book in two parts. The first one explains how an anti-inflammation diet works.

The second part? Well, let me put it like this. The book is about 240 pages long- and the recipes start on page 55 and go to page 225- so just know that the vast majority of this book is a lot of recipe suggestions. Don't get me wrong- I consider this to be a big plus. Another good thing is that it gives you eating plans for both the winter and summer months- which helps a lot when you're trying to stick with the diet.

So if you want to learn more about eating an anti-inflammation diet, this book will certainly help you out. By the end, you'll know what to eat, and what not to eat. And readers looking for more ways to help their arthritis might also want to check out Treat Your Own Knee Arthritis.

I have spent a lot of time reading and researching low carb diets. While this does not make me an expert, I have learned a lot over the years. I've studied Atkins, South Beach Diet, the Zone Diet, Protein Power, and others. I've posted hundreds of messages upon bulletin boards discussing the best way to eat healthy, exercise and lose weight.

Rob Thompson's Glycemic Load Diet book takes the most effective parts of the various low carb and low starch diets and puts it together in a clear and concise manner. This book does not necessarily define a diet as it does describe a way of eating that is easy to follow and effective for weight loss.

The Glycemic Index ranks foods by their effects upon your blood sugar. However it is only the glycemic load that takes into account the serving size when measuring the effects of foods on our bodies. Rob Thompson's book explains the importance of glycemic load and how it can be used to ensure your blood sugar levels remain stable.

The simple fact is that

This is a book for food for Diabetics, especially type II. The recipes and methods follow Dr Bernstein's other book (The Diabetes Solution: The Complete Guide to Achieving Normal Blood Sugars - which I highly recommend from seeing it actually work on on my mother and my spouse).

There is no cure - you will have to change your life; Dr Bernstein is quite clear about that. And Diabetes is all about rules you must use to control your blood sugar. It all begins with your food. Control your food intake and you will enable control of your blood sugar. And that is where the "strict" and "forever" come from. Either you control your diabetes or you will die from it.

The recipes in here fit very well into almost any low-carb diet. But unlike the typical "Atkins" recipes (which some people use as an excuse to have a bacon-grease free-for-all), they also take into account protein and fat content to a much greater extent. There is a lot of difficulty in coming up with a menu that keeps your carbohydrates in

When you have diabetes, it can increase the risk of developing many different cardiovascular problems and this includes high blood pressure.  When you have diabetes, it affects your arteries in a negative way and you can experience hardening of the arteries otherwise known as atherosclerosis.  Having a nutritionist or your medical team help you to design a diabetes high blood pressure diet can help you avoid many of the medical conditions associated with both hypertension and diabetes.

After reading "The Ph Miracle For Diabetes" I call that author a genius. I have been doing what he says to do, and my blood sugar ranges in the normal range, now. I had been diagnosed with diabetes in February 2003. I had been following Dr. Young's plan for health since the diagnosis, however, I really didn't know why it works. Now, I do. I do not take any prescription drugs. I have maintained a loss of 37 pounds over a year and a half, now, as a result of balancing the Ph factor in me. (This is another pointed phenomenon, too.)

It is remarkable and impressive how he defies what the medical "profession" believes, and he ventured out of the medical box of beliefs and discovered what really happens to cause diabetes. It is so clear and logical, that even I can understand, now.

Dr. Young states, "On the other hand with the Ph balance , the cells of the pancreas, insulin producing beta cells, and glucagon-producing alpha cells could and would function in perfect harmony, and the phenomenon of diabet
